A user centric approach to IoT (Internet of Things)

Talk Abstract:
The role of the product designer is now more important than ever. With increasing adoption of emerging technology across IoT and AI, it’s our mission as designers to ensure that new products solve real user needs and are not on a tech for tech sake.

The development of a design approach focusing on Customer Experience (CX) approach across all aspects of physical, digital, service and brand can ensure that the technology produces meaningful impact on users lives.

A balance of analogue and digital, notification vs noise, insights vs mass data, 247 monitoring vs personal privacy are all areas modern product designers must address to craft successful products.

The future is closer than ever, it’s our role to ensure that we create.

Focusing on a how technology can be used to better people’s lives Craig is one of the Co-Founders and Directors of product design studio Filament based in Glasgow, Scotland.

Offering a user centric approach to the development of new innovative IoT and connected hardware products Filament work with disruptive startups and global corporations both in the UK and overseas.

A graduate with a Masters in Product Design Engineering from the Glasgow School of Art and Glasgow University Craig uses a “Connected” approach to join the dots between user, technology and business.
