Alex D’Souza is Co-Founder and Creative Director of Default Office, a London-based industrial design practice he established with Joe Ground in 2023. After graduating from Brunel University London, Alex worked across studios in the UK and US before joining DCA Design, where he worked on a wide range of projects. Default Office works with clients in energy tech, consumer hardware, robotics, and homeware. Alex leads the creative output of the practice, where industrial design sits alongside visualisation and art direction – giving clients a coherent creative vision from product through to communication.
Default Office is a London-based industrial design practice with a serious visualisation capability. Co-Founder and Creative Director Alex D’Souza shares how the two sides fuel each other – how rendering work has opened doors to major industrial design commissions, and how ID projects naturally pull visualisation and brand work in behind them.
Drawing on projects spanning energy tech, robotics, and even nuclear fusion, Alex talks through how a small practice achieves high-level results without diving too deep into the 3D CGI world – instead leaning on creative art direction and a traditional photography background to stand out. He’ll also show how Default Office is using AI to build bespoke technical tools, so the team can spend more time on creative input and direction.
