Simulation driven additive manufacturing

Synopsis:
Industrial grade Additive Manufacturing (AM) is growing more rapidly than ever before and has the potential to revolutionize the way we design and make products, but there are still significant barriers that could potentially limit its widespread adoption.  So, our challenge is how we can make simulation help get reliability back into AM designs and how we can design parts so they print right the first time.

There are a number of key areas where simulation can play an important role in 3D printing such as: generating a functional design, generating lattice structures, calibrating the material, optimizing the manufacturing process, and in-service performance. This presentation from Intrinsys Ltd will describe the end-to-end simulation-driven solution that SIMULIA/Dassault Systemes have developed for addressing key challenges that industry faces.

BIO:

Dr Auday Al-Rawe, PhD, Phil, MSc, BSc

Auday has a strong academic background complemented by over 18 year’s industrial experience with various engineering software vendors of advanced simulation and analysis products.

Auday started his carrier as a mechanical engineer then developed his academic skillset by obtaining MSc and MPhil degrees in Welding Technology and Industrial Science respectively from Cranfield University. His passion for engineering design and simulation resulted in a PhD from Nottingham Trent University where he develop an empirical model for optimising the performance of composite material with the aid of Finite Element Techniques.

During his career Auday has held a number of senior technical and business development roles including shaping and developing several international company’s offices and channels within, Europe, Far East, Middle East and Australasia.

Auday, within his current role as a business development manager at Intrinsys, works closely with clients,  helping them with solution centric consultations to fulfil their project needs particularly where the simulation is challenging making him a very popular member of the client’s team.
